About the Exhibition

Katarsis means purification, the transformation that occurs when something is lived through rather than avoided. It is the change forged within the fire, not merely after it.

The exhibition KATARSIS brings together 8 Danish jewelry artists to explore transformation as a breakthrough process. While transitions are often described as linear movements from one state to another, this exhibition zooms in on the moment of breakthrough itself: the point where something must rupture, burst, or melt to become something new.

The exhibition explores katarsis as a material, personal, and societal transformation. The jewelry pieces become vessels for stories of rupture and healing, destruction and renewal, loss and hope. Through precious metals, textiles, enamel, and found materials, the works showcase transformative processes that leave visible traces-fragments reassembled, surfaces broken and healed, and forms that have endured the fire.

KATARSIS presents contemporary jewelry that moves beyond the decorative and into the existential. The works are inscriptions of change that acknowledge the pain of the process while making room for the new.
