KATARSIS is the raw, beautiful turning point of transformation. It is the purification that occurs not by evading the crisis, but by passing through it. It is the change forged within the fire – not merely remembered in the ashes.

On the occasion of City of Jewellery 2026 under the overarching theme TRANSITION, Goldfingers brings together 10 prominent Danish jewelry artists. While transitions are often depicted as smooth, linear movements, KATARSIS zooms in on the raw moment of breakthrough itself: the precise point where something must rupture, burst, melt, or shatter to give birth to something new.

In jewelry art, the invisible is given form. The power of myth, the fracture of emotion, and the physical resistance of materials pass through the artist's hands, transforming into wearable monuments of change.

The jewelry pieces function as vessels for stories of rupture and healing, destruction and renewal, loss and hope. Through precious metals, enamel, textiles, wood, and found objects, the works bear the visible scars of the process: surfaces broken and healed, fragments reassembled, and forms that have endured the fire.

KATARSIS presents contemporary jewelry art that moves beyond the decorative and directly into the existential. The works are powerful inscriptions of change that acknowledge the pain of the process while making room for the new.
